Jesse Powell, a legendary singer-songwriter and R&B performer, passed away at age 51 at his Los Angeles home.
Originally from Gary, Indiana, Powell rose to stardom with the ballad "You," which was on his 1996 self-titled debut album.
In 1999, when he released "You" as a single, it peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at No. 14. Furthermore, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard R&B list.
On September 14, 2022, in the wee hours of the morning, Grammy-winning singer Tamara Powell posted a touching message on Instagram to share the sad news of her brother's passing.
