In 1999, when he released "You" as a single, it peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at No. 14. Furthermore, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard R&B list.

He was Trina and Tamara Powell's older brother, both of whom were R&B singers.
